As a Registered Social Worker (MSW), Psychotherapist, Amita has helped people heal, grow, and take back control of their lives since 2014. She works with many clients, including adults, LGBTQ+ individuals, survivors of domestic violence, parents, refugees, first responders, veterans, and military personnel, offering warmth, empathy, and cultural sensitivity and tailoring her approach to each person’s needs. She offers virtual support to clients across Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
As a first-generation South Asian therapist, she understands the challenges of cultural transitions and the unique experiences of racialized and marginalized communities. She works to make her practice a safe and welcoming space where clients feel seen, heard, and supported, especially in tough times.
If you’re dealing with past trauma, anxiety, depression, or just feeling overwhelmed, she is ready to support you. You will work together using therapy methods like CBT, EMDR, EFIT, EFFT, DBT, Narrative Therapy, and mindfulness. These approaches can help you work through negative thoughts, develop healthier coping skills, and find more balance in your life. You don’t have to go through this alone.
In her free time, Amita likes reading, learning new things, painting, and nature photography. She enjoys peaceful moments outdoors, birdwatching in her backyard and appreciating the calmness and serenity these experiences bring. She can also be found cozying up on the couch with her son for Harry Potter movie marathons.
